Project Overview

The previous Siena House website was already built on WordPress and was in reasonably good shape. It was functional, minimalist, and had some useful elements, but the overall experience felt visually inconsistent and somewhat disjointed.

The site had originally started around 2013 and had gone through many years of theme changes, content updates, plugin changes, image uploads, and technical adjustments. Over time, this created a lot of technical baggage: more than 5,000 images in the media library, many thin blog posts that were no longer relevant, and a structure that was harder to maintain properly.

Instead of trying to patch the old installation, I rebuilt the website from scratch on a clean WordPress setup. Only the necessary content, images, and SEO-relevant material were manually ported to the new site.

This gave Siena House a cleaner technical foundation, stronger visual direction, faster performance, better mobile usability, and a more focused structure for guests and search engines.

Performance and Mobile Experience

The new website was built with a lightweight custom WordPress theme focused on speed, mobile-first design, and careful asset loading.

This helped create a smoother experience for visitors, especially on mobile devices, where many guests first discover and compare boutique hotels.

The website also achieved strong PageSpeed Insights results across both mobile and desktop, supported by a cleaner technical setup and a more focused front-end build.
