Trequanda, a Traditional Tuscan Village
Trequanda is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Siena in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) southeast of Florence and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southeast of Siena. With a population of just ~1.300 people, Trequanda is a traditional Tuscan comune that has everything you expect – a great macelleria, a beautiful church in the middle of the comune, a pizzeria and two restaurants, one in the center and one with a fantastic panoramic view.
A great thing about Trequanda is the location: it is close to many towns and cities of great interest, vineyards, etc. If you travel by car then it is nice to base yourself here, easy to get around.
This is the view that we had from the apartment that we stayed at.
Enjoy a couple of narrow streets with beautiful buildings and windows, but without crowds of tourists to push you around.
A small osteria is right in the center, the food is much better than you would expect.
There’s a large parking lot right at the comune’s entrance, that’s where the main recycling trash containers are too. We were a little surprised to see pomegranates growing right in the parking lot, near the trash containers.
Every sunrise and sunset in Trequanda is magical.
During a couple of days these bad boys were flying over a lot, thankfully the 400mm lens can handle them just fine.
