The Nikkor 50mm F1.4G lens can also do close-up shots, without any additional macro lens. I’m a bit surprised actually :)

Yesterday I finally got my first entry-level DSLR: a brand new Nikon D5000 with a 18-55mm VR lens.

The reviews were right – this basic(cheap) lens is amazing! Here are a few images I took yesterday around the house:

I did not play much with the camera, I just turned on the lights, zoomed in on a few objects and just took the shots, exactly the same way I did with my old point-and-shoot cameras. The result (i think) is amazing :)
