As winter refuses to make room for spring, I keep taking indoor photographs… And what better model than my parents’s cat Sonya? This time in black and white :)

Sonya and Simba at HomeFebruary 22, 2010

Yesterday I took some more photos of my two cats, Simba and Sonya. I just can’t have enough of them :)

In January 2010 I had the opportunity to take a quick 7-days vacation.
Destination: Hurghada, Egypt.
Hotel: Imperial Shams Abu Soma Resort 5* Hotel (Safaga).

I have already posted some HDR Photos of Imperial Shams Hotel, now it is time to post photos from the trip itself.

And as you cannot visit Egypt and not see the Pyramids, we had an excursion to Giza (Cairo) and took some photos of the Great Pyramid of Giza (of Kheops/Cheops), Pyramid of Khafre, The Great Sphinx, Mastabas, etc. If only the locals didn’t bother us as much as they did, the trip would have been MUCH more enjoyable.

Cairo itself is a very chaotic place, traffic is infernal! Do I want to visit it again? No, that’s for sure.

During my vacation at Imperial Shams Hotel (Hurghada, Egypt) in January 2010, I tried taking a few HDR photos. Without too many preparations and zero experience, here is the result:

Imperial Shams, Hurghada, Egypt (HDR)

Each HDR consists of 3 photos with an exposure bracket of 2, processed with Photomatix Pro 3.

What do you think? Any advice?

During the first days of 2010 I had the opportunity of shooting my first organized indoor photo session. Alina, a friend of mine, was strong enough and stayed strong for over 3 hours of shooting.

I used the AF-S Nikkor 50mm F1.4G lens with a simple UV filter on my Nikon D5000 body, without any other additional equipment. Enjoy!

During the past few days I was thinking about getting myself a portrait-type lens for my Nikon D5000 camera. After some research, the choice fell on AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G, as other good portrait lens are out of my budget limit. After getting it I went...

A couple of days ago I had a small classmates reunion at which I was the only one taking shots with a DSLR (Nikon D5000), so people had some expectations for my photos :) Everything seemed fine, but then I got home and started checking / editing the...

Now, I should point out that I have no ‘professional’ photography experience. None. I had for a few years a simple Olympus mju 410 point-and-shoot camera which I bought many years ago, probably in 2003. After 6 *gasp* years of taking photos...
